Slowriter

Following his time with The Chariot, Atlanta musician Bryan Taylor set out in 2009 to create something that felt entirely his own. The result was Slowriter, an ever-evolving solo project built without creative boundaries or expectations. Rather than centering around a fixed lineup, Slowriter became an outlet for exploration, with Taylor occasionally assembling a full band of friends and collaborators to bring the songs to life on stage while remaining the project's primary songwriter and creative force.

Difficult to define by any single genre, Slowriter blended indie rock, alternative, ambient textures, and experimental songwriting into a body of work that constantly shifted from one release to the next. Atlanta Music Guide described the project as a "creative flow of all sorts of sounds" and praised its "ultra-creative" approach—a fitting description for music that embraced curiosity over convention. Whether quiet and reflective or expansive and cinematic, every song carried an unmistakable sense of intention and emotional honesty.

Autumn + Colour welcomed Slowriter to the label in 2013, recognizing Bryan Taylor's singular artistic voice and commitment to following inspiration wherever it led. During his time with the label, Slowriter released Trailblazer, King of the Void, and the King of the Void (Bonus Tracks) EP, expanding an already diverse catalog with recordings that highlighted both experimentation and thoughtful songwriting. Each release reinforced the project's refusal to be confined by genre while maintaining a deeply personal perspective.

Slowriter remains one of the most adventurous artists to be part of the Autumn + Colour catalog. Bryan Taylor's willingness to continually reinvent his sound without losing sight of the emotion at its core resulted in a collection of work that still feels fresh years later—a reminder that the most compelling records often come from artists who are simply following their own creative instincts.
