Formed in Charleston, South Carolina in 2011 by songwriter Matt Megrue, Loners Society began as a deeply personal solo project before growing into a full folk-rock and Americana band. Rooted in intimate acoustic storytelling and shaped by influences spanning indie rock, alternative country, and classic Americana, the project developed a sound that is both hauntingly reflective and emotionally expansive.
Signed to Autumn + Colour in 2014, Loners Society released the King City Sessions EP, a collection of songs that showcased Megrue's thoughtful songwriting and the band's ability to blend raw emotion with rich, organic instrumentation. The release captured the quiet beauty of life's uncertain moments, balancing melancholy with hope through honest lyrics and timeless melodies.
Whether stripped down to a lone acoustic guitar or backed by a full band, Loners Society creates music that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable. Their atmospheric blend of folk, rock, and Americana continues to resonate with listeners who appreciate authentic songwriting and music that lingers long after the final note.
